This is some news we personally have been waiting on for what seems like forever. For several years now, there have been rumblings of a new live action Masters Of The Universe film happening but we always get news it’s delayed or hiccups in the road stop production altogether. But Deadline brings us the latest update this week, revealing that Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films are getting serious about the project.

Masters of the Universe has now been set for theatrical release on June 5, 2026, with Travis Knight (Bumblebee) on board to direct He-Man’s return to the big screen.

Adam and Aaron Nee (The Lost City) wrote the original version of the script with David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), which Chris Butler will rewrite.

Deadline reports, “The movie follows ten-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor.

“But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe.”

We grew up on Masters Of The Universe so this is going to be a wild ride for fans of the franchise. The cartoon show originally ran from 1983 to 1985 and who could forget the Dolph Lundgren starring 1987 film, we know we can’t…even if we tried to.

The one silver lining from the 87’ movie was Frank Langella’s performance as Skeletor. Dude was stellar and if you don’t believe us, check out the video below.

We’ll bring you more news on the Masters of The Universe live action film from Amazon and MGM studios when we get it.
