Confluential Films Begins Work On New Horror Film From Director Of "THE FIRST PURGE"
Genre films never go out of style, and as the industry continues to evolve and grow so do the stories and storytellers that inhabit these cinematic spaces. With this also comes a more nuanced approach to filmmaking that can celebrate and focus on different perspectives. Confluential Films, an award-winning, Black-owned and Black-founded, film, television, and documentary production company, and financier has recently launched a new genre label New Fear Unlocked Productions as well as the first film they will release, “Goons”. As first reported on by Deadline:
“Goons is produced and fully financed by Confluential Films through its new genre label New Fear Unlocked Productions, which is dedicated to bold, elevated, culturally specific horror films from creators of color. The movie is also produced in association with McMurray’s Buppie Productions.”
The film is set to star Michael Rainey Jr. and Chloe Bailey and will be directed by Gerard McMurray who recently worked on “The First Purge” for Blumhouse. While details are still mum, we are excited about anything that takes place in one of America’s most haunted cities, New Orleans.
