Edgar Wright Chimes In On A Possible SHAUN OF THE DEAD Sequel!
In 2005, director Edgar Wright grabbed a lot of people’s attention with his, now classic, Horror-Comedy, Shaun Of The Dead. Since that time, Wright has stayed pretty clear from anything resembling a sequel to the zombie romp that put him on the map.
Many have wondered if a sequel would ever come about for the Simon Pegg starring flick and now Wright has shut these rumors down.
In an interview today, Wright basically says that he’s done with Horror-Comedy and there really isn’t any reason to revisit the past.
"I haven't gone back to horror-comedy, because with Shaun of the Dead I felt like I had said much of what I wanted to say with that movie," Wright detailed to SFX Magazine, per GamesRadar. "It's difficult to return to that, even as a producer. Sometimes I get sent films -- people want to make the next Shaun and want me to come aboard as a producer. But I find it difficult to cover the same territory again."
Considering that Simon Pegg, as well as Nick Frost were featured in two more Wright films together(HOT FUZZ, THE WORLD’S END) fans have stated that it would be easy to do another film focusing on Shaun.
"The thing is that films take so long to make. I think that's the thing that fans don't quite understand sometimes," Wright pointed out. "They'll say, 'Why don't you knock out a Shaun sequel?' It's like, these films take three years to make, you've got to really, really love it to do it. So because films take longer to make, trying to challenge yourself with a different subject matter or something you haven't done before, it's always the real motivator."
Now that isn’t to say that Wright is scratching Horror as a whole from his “To Do List,” the director has a new film on the way October 29th that most definitely is a horror flick entitled The Last Night In Soho.
