"PAPER CUTS" Is Our New Horror Literature Column For All Your Wicked Word Needs!
Looking at the last few years in horror cinema, you can see a groundswell of exciting new voices creating unique, inventive ways to scare moviegoers silly. This is an excellent time for fright films, from creature features to possession to slashers, one after another, the bar keeps getting reset higher and higher, however, what many fans don’t know, or haven’t been made aware of, is that this renaissance has been going strong for close to a decade in horror literature. Often compared to the paperback boom of the 80s, the sheer volume of phenomenally well-written novels, short stories, novellas, comic books, and graphic novels is staggering, with a vast array of representation throughout the genre. While the 80s were an electrifying time for horror readers, it was far from diverse or inclusive. That's not the case today, with fantastic work coming from Indigenous voices, people of color, and queer representation.
Macabre Daily is making it a point to cover as many fresh, new talents, and established superstars in horror literature as possible, so we’ve created the “PAPER CUTS” column to highlight what you need to know during these thrilling times. Headed by Contributor, Sean O’Connor, the column will include news, reviews, panels, and interviews, covering the full spectrum of terror on the page. We’ll inform readers about upcoming releases and author events, the latest bestsellers, the hidden gems, bookstores, and bookstagrams you need to follow, and so much more. We’ll have interviews with some of your favorite authors and spotlight talented up-and-comers—guest columns, giveaways, author recommendations, and writing advice. Everything the horror fan wants and needs will be in the PAPER CUTS column. If it’s typed out for terror, we got you!
As we launch this new column, we’d like to ask horror authors, publishers, content creators, and bookstagramers to contact Macabre Daily via the “CONTACT US” form at Macabredaily.com to be part of the PAPER CUTS coverage. We can’t promise to cover everything you request—Sean only has two eyes, after all—but we promise to look at every request and respond. The goal is simple: turn as many people on to talented authors, killer bookstores, and sensational events, as we can. Don’t miss out, come for the horror, and stay for the screams!
