Frendo Sighted At SXSW Clowing Around At The World Premiere!

Austin, TX is getting invaded by Baypen’s favorite make-up-laden mascot, Frendo at SXSW this week! For those with coulrophobia make sure to stay away from South Texas as sightings of the murderous mascot have been appearing throughout the festival and even in theaters in support of the forthcoming, “Clown in a Cornfield” adaptation!

For those unfamiliar, “Clown in a Cornfield,” will be released on May 9, 2025, from RLJE Films and Shudder based on a YA novel by Adam Cesare which has spawned two sequels. The film had its world premiere at SXSW in Austin, and we hope to bring you more exciting news as the film edges closer to release. For now, thanks to our friends at Katrina Wan PR, we have some exciting photos to share with you from this week’s festivities!

Synopsis

Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play.
