FX's 'ALIEN' Series Most Likely Delayed Till 2025

The next chapter in the Alien franchise is still on schedule from director Fede Alvarez as of this writing with a premier date of August 16, 2024 but what about the “Alien” TV series from FX and creator Noah Hawley (“Fargo”)?

According to new comments from Hawley, the “Alien” franchise likely isn’t headed to the small screen until sometime in 2025 – a year after Alvarez’s new movie comes along.

“We’re all just waiting for the strike, and it will end,” Hawley tells TheWrap this week. “The plan right now is to go back in January and be shooting in February, and looks like shoot until July or so, which puts the air date somewhere in the first half of ’25.”

With the strike officially now over as of yesterday, we can get back to business and hopefully see this new Alien series sooner than later. Production originally started in July and a few things were indeed filmed.

“I was able to complete filming most of the first hour. That said, I wasn’t able to film anything with my star. So I still have the bulk of the show to film, and we have seven more hours to shoot,” Hawley explains to TheWrap, referring to star Sydney Chandler. “I certainly would have loved to get the show in front of people as quickly as possible.”

Essie Davis (The Babadook), Alex Lawther (The End of the F*cking World), Samuel Blenkin (“Black Mirror”), and Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger) will also star.

Creator Noah Hawley‘s take on the Alien franchise has been described as both an “extension and reinvention” of the films that have come before it, with Ellen Ripley not involved.

FX originally noted, “Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth.”
