World War II history buffs, occult nerds, and fans of the Wolfenstein games are likely to be the only groups of people not surprised to learn about the Nazi obsession with the occult. While some claims have been falsely elaborated on, there is still a lot of merit to the history that parts of the German Nazi operation were at least marginally curious about the world of the supernatural. While the spectacle of the myth is more intriguing than the facts of history, the former is a breeding ground for horror and horror movies. This brings us to “Mother Superior” from Award-Winning Filmmaker Marie Alice Wolfszahn coming to us from Black Mandala Films!

Synopsis
1975, Rosenkreuz Manor: Sigrun, a young nurse, begins caring for the enigmatic Baroness Heidenreich, whose aristocratic veneer masks a dark past. Unsettling customs and an otherworldly atmosphere pull Sigrun into the Baroness's sinister web, as the quest to uncover her own origins leads to a secret SS archive.
As Sigrun becomes entangled in an esoteric cabal with ties to Aryan mysticism, she discovers the eerie power of occult practices—and her own chilling role within the group’s radical vision. Featuring a gripping narrative and mesmerizing visuals, Mother Superior is a haunting meditation on ideology, identity, and the inescapable pull of heritage.

About the Filmmaker
Marie Alice Wolfszahn brings a distinct vision to Mother Superior, informed by her extensive background in film and multimedia art. A graduate of ECA Edinburgh and EICAR Paris, Wolfszahn’s exploration of ideology and utopia resonates through her award-winning projects, including the documentary Bridge to Sovietopia and her feature debut, Mother Superior.
