'HALLOWEEN ENDS' Slashes Up The Box Office With Nearly $60 Million Worldwide Opening

Billed as the final film in David Gordon Green’s sequel trilogy, Halloween Ends will most definitely not be the last time we visit Haddonfield but it is likely to be the last time we see franchise star Jamie Lee Curtis play Laurie Strode. That promise alone put butts in seats this weekend and pulled in a hefty $58.4 million worldwide thus far.

Domestically, Halloween Ends made $41.2 million in its opening weekend across 3,901 theaters. That puts Halloween Ends in the #1 spot on the domestic charts this week, and the film is likely to rocket past $100 million worldwide in these next two weeks before Halloween.

You could say the franchise is suffering from the law of diminishing returns but this isn’t really the case since all three films have premiered on Peacock at the same time the films hit theaters which does cut into the box office pull a bit. People enjoy staying home and watching films more than going to the theater and dealing with crowds.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for Halloween Ends:

“Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.”

Halloween Ends will also feature the return of Will Patton as Officer Frank Hawkins, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace and James Jude Courtney as The Shape/Michael Myers.

Michael Myers (aka The Shape) in Halloween Ends, co-written, produced and directed by David Gordon Green.
