HOP ON YOUR BROOMS, ‘HOCUS POCUS 2’ WILL HIT DISNEY+ ON SEPTEMBER 30

The witches are back!

Looks like the Black-Flame Candle will be lit again as Disney has confirmed during the studio’s upfronts presentation today that HOCUS POCUS 2 will hit their Disney+ streaming service on September 30, 2022, even debuting a sneak peak at the film.

The film will bring back the popular Sanderson Sisters, played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy in the original 1993 film, all reprising their roles for the much-anticipated sequel.

Joining the original sisters three will be Whitney Peak (“Gossip Girl,” “Molly’s Game”) as Becca, Lilia Buckingham (“Dirt,” “Crown Lake”) as Cassie, and Belissa Escobedo (“American Horror Stories,” “The Baker and the Beauty”) as Izzy, who will each play three young women in present-day Salem who incite the wrath of the Sanderson Sisters.

“It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters who were executed for practicing witchcraft, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to figure out how to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before midnight on All Hallow’s Eve.”

In the sneak-peak footage shared on Tuesday, two young girls are seen lighting the Black Flame Candle, which summons the witches as Midler cries, "Lock up your children! Yes, Salem, we're back!"

The sisters then break out into song, a cover of Elton John's "The B***h* Is Back" while Billy Butcherson (reprised by Doug Jones), and Sam Richardson (Werewolves Within), who joined the sequel, appear. Tony Hale (“Arrested Development”), also makes an appearance in the teaser as the mayor of Salem.

Anne Fletcher (The Guilt Trip) is directing the movie with a script by Jen D’Angelo (“Workaholics”).
