Live Action 'THE HAUNTED MANSION' Adds Danny DeVito To Cast!
Disney is on a roll with it’s attractions being converted into full on films. We got The Jungle Cruise earlier in the year and of course The Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise worked like gangbusters for the mouse. One that is coming up that we have our eyes on is the live action adaptation of The Haunted Mansion. The film will be directed by Justin Simien (Dear White People, Bad Hair) and tonight we have some more casting news.
LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, and Rosario Dawson are already part of the cast, and THR reports tonight that Danny DeVito has now also come on board!
THR notes, “The film follows a mother and her son who come across a mansion that is more than it seems while being orbited by various characters key to undressing the spooky mystery. DeVito will play a smug professor.”
Katie Dippold (Ghostbusters 2016) is writing the new movie’s script for Disney.
Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich’s Rideback will be producing.
The last time we saw an adaptation for The Haunted Mansion was back in 2003 with Eddie Murphy starring. Originally Guillermo del Torro was slated to direct a more “scary” film based on the attraction but has since left the project.
