Marvel Studios Head Honcho Kevin Feige Gives Update On 'BLADE'
We’ve been waiting awhile for movement on the upcoming ‘BLADE’ film from Marvel Studios. So far we know that the film will be a all new fresh take on the character and yes, the “Day-Walker” would be joining the current MCU fold. The new Blade movie was first announced in July 2019 during San Diego Comic-Con. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced the film and confirmed that it would star multiple-Oscar winner Mahershala Ali in the lead role.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios head honcho, Kevin Feige gave a brief update on Blade and how things are moving along, it sounds like work is now progressing nicely. "It's going well. Our director Yann [Demange] is down in Atlanta right now," he confirms. "Cameras roll in, like, the next 10 weeks or so."
Blade is set for a September 6, 2024 release as of this writing. That's still some time away, but the studio has been planning this reboot since all the way back in 2013, so what's a little longer, right? And whenever it finally gets to theaters, it does look like the new Blade will be one hell of a movie.
So far, updates on the cast for the film has been few and far between but we can confirm a few things. Award-winning actor Delroy Lindo, who starred alongside the late Chadwick Boseman in the Spike Lee joint Da 5 Bloods, has been cast in the movie in an undisclosed role. Lindo is also known for his work on The Cider House Rules, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Netflix's The Harder They Fall. In another unrevealed role, we have Aaron Pierre also joining the cast. Pierre is best known for his roles in Krypton and The Underground Railroad, as well as the M. Night Shyamalan movie Old. There have also been rumors that The Boys star Ant could play Dracula in the movie but while that definitely sounds like an interesting take on the character, it hasn't been confirmed yet.
We’ll bring you more as it develops.
