‘Prey’ Filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg Directing an Episode For "STRANGER THINGS 5"

Last years Hulu homerun ‘PREY’ had an amazing cast and crew and its director Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) is headed to the Upside Down to direct an episode of “Stranger Things 5”, we have learned this afternoon.

Netflix reports, “There’s no word yet on which episode the director will helm.”

“Stranger Things 5” will be the FINAL season of Netflix‘s hit series, and Netflix recently announced during their TUDUM event that Terminator icon Linda Hamilton will star!

No word yet on Hamilton’s role in “Stranger Things 5,” which is currently on pause while writers fight for fair wages as part of the ongoing WGA Strike. Stay tuned for more.

The Season 4 finale set the stage for a season that will bring the action entirely back to Hawkins, with the rift between Hawkins and the Upside Down now completely opened up by the monster behind it all, Vecna. When can you expect Season 5 to premiere? Likely not until at least 2024, so it’ll be a while before we learn more about the show’s final season.

“Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things,” creators Matt and Ross Duffer said. “At the time, we predicted the story would last four or five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but — as you’ll soon see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last.”

Of course, just because the main series is coming to an end doesn’t mean future “Stranger Things” projects aren’t on the way. Could we be seeing spinoff shows in the future?

The Duffer Brothers tease, “There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes.”
