'RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD' Reboot On The Way; “Will Expand the Existing World”
Brainssssss
It doesn’t take a genius to realize that zombies are still all the rage even with the waning decline in viewers of shows like The Walking Dead or Z Nation. One film that has kept fans enthralled for years in the zombie genre however has always been Dan O’Bannon’s 1985 movie The Return of the Living Dead ended up launching a franchise that to date includes five total movies. Sure many people only acknowledge the first three but trust us, there’s five.
If these zombies movies have taught us anything its that those pesky brain eaters aren’t dead, they’re just slow. 20yrs slow if ya count the 2005 sequel to Return of The Living Dead which was the last time this franchise was messed with. But never fear, a new take on the film might just be a great kick in the teeth for horror fans we need.
The company Living Dead Media is behind the planned upcoming reboot, which has Steve Wolsh (Muck, Kill Her Goats) attached to direct. According to the company’s official website, the next installment in the Return of the Living Dead franchise will reboot rather than remake.
Living Dead Media previews, “Our reboot of Return of the Living Dead will expand the existing world created by the original 5 films, while staying true to the R-rated, sci-fi, horror, dark comedy roots adored by fans of the cult classic around the world for the last 35 years.”
The company also notes on their official website, “We are excited to resurrect this storied franchise for current fans and new generations of zombie fans.”
We’re eager to see them pull this off. We’ll update you when we get more info.
