Sam Raimi Promises Upcoming 'EVIL DEAD RISE' Will Be "TERRIFYING"

Mighty big words from Director, writer, and producer, Sam Raimi, in regards to the next chapter in the Evil Dead saga, Evil Dead Rise.

Evil Dead Rise is set for an exclusive premier on HBO MAX in 2022 and we’re stoked for it! While we wait, producer Sam Raimi sat down with Slash Film this week to tease the upcoming movie, which he calls “terrifying.”

“I’ve seen a rough cut, a medium fine cut, and a fine cut. There’s probably a few changes that [director] Lee Cronin is making that I haven’t seen, but it’s great,” Raimi tells Slash Film.

He adds, “It’s terrifying and it’s going to knock people’s socks off.”

By the time it’s released later this year, Evil Dead Rise will be the franchise’s first movie in just under 10 years, following in the wake of Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead 2013 and course, the Starz series “Ash vs. Evil Dead” that brought Bruce Campbell back into the mix.

We have the basic rundown for the film as well which you can check out below.

“In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”

Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davies (The End) and Nell Fisher (Splendid Isolation) will star in the new movie alongside Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan.

Sam RaimiBruce Campbell and Robert Tapert are producing Evil Dead Rise. According to Campbell, the three have been “very involved” in the project every step of the way.
