TERROR FILMS Acquires Rights To Internet Horror Flick "SUICIDE CLUB"

Internet-based horror movies have been on the rise for the last 20 years or so. They grip us with terror by tapping into our deepest digital anxieties, transforming the mundane clicks and keystrokes into harbingers of doom. Films like ‘Unfriended’ and ‘Host’ have cleverly exploited our reliance on social media and video calls. They have done this so well by turning these platforms into sinister playgrounds where supernatural forces or horrifyingly real circumstances lurk behind every screen. By melding the immediacy of online interaction with classic horror tropes, these movies deliver spine-chilling thrills that resonate with our modern, tech-obsessed lives. It makes you ponder the question “Is it ever really safe to go online?”.

TERROR FILMS RELEASING has acquired the worldwide rights to writer/director Maximilian von Vier’s horror film, “Suicide Club”. Originally released in 2018 by another distributor, TFR is giving horror fans a 2nd chance to discover the film.

Starring Klariza Clayton, Adam Newington, Carey Thring, and Andrew Hollingworth. The film follows a reclusive young woman who stumbles upon a mysterious web community called The Suicide Club. According to an urban myth, The Suicide Club grants death to those wishing for it...unless these "cyber-suicides" are actually murders. Von Vier, who also produced the film, shared their thoughts:

Suicide Club’ is a script that came to life in the glow of a flashlight, on the flanks of a volcano, while I was backpacking in the Hawaiian jungle. The film was meant as an exercise in simplicity: for my debut feature, I needed to come up with the cheapest project I could think of, in order to be able to finance it myself.

The story explores themes that anyone who's ever owned a computer or smartphone can relate to, in addition to very contemporary social issues such as cyber-crime, cyber-bullying, voyeurism, the increasingly blurry line between our real and virtual lives, and the manipulative power of social media.”

TFR will premiere the film on their YouTube Terror Channel on July 12th, 2024, including a live chat with the filmmaker. The film will then roll out across multiple platforms on July 19th, 2024, including Amazon, Tubi TV, PlayNow Media, Kings of Horror, and many more.
