"THE BLACK QUARRY" (2023) Merges Brutal Horror And Heavy Metal This March (TRAILER)

Horror and heavy metal go together like chocolate and peanut butter unless you have a nut allergy. Both genres exist on the extreme end of their respective artistic spectrums and are often considered an “acquired taste” despite legions of fans. They also tend to draw in marginalized groups and people who have a hard time fitting in, and the results of the combination of these two art forms often lead to fantastic results. From 1986’s “Trick or Treat” to 2015’s “The Devil’s Candy” there is no shortage of examples of these two hardcore harmonies, but we are always excited to learn about more of them!

Thank you to our friends at TBM TBM Horror for sharing the news of HorrorWeb Productions and Texas-based filmmaker Corey Trahan’s latest unholy union of horror and heavy metal, “The Black Quarry.” The film is set to release any day now on Amazon Prime Video, and you can check out the trailer and additional details about the film below!

From The Press Release

HorrorWeb Productions is set to unleash its award-winning horror film, The Black Quarry, in mid-March. A twisted fusion of heavy metal and horror, the film follows the black metal band Drown the Priest as they enter an abandoned quarry to shoot a music video—only to find themselves trapped with something far more sinister than their own dark ambitions.

Texas horror creator and entrepreneur Corey Trahan delivers a brutal new vision with The Black Quarry, a film he both wrote and directed. Trahan, the force behind multiple horror-themed parks across Texas, also drives the sound of Austin’s horror pop-punk band, The Immortalz, as its songwriter and producer. With a relentless career shaping dark, immersive worlds, Trahan is carving a path to claim the title of the next Master of Horror.

Winner of multiple festival awards, including Houston Horror Film Festival, The Thing in the Basement Horror Fest, L.A. Sci-Fi & Horror Festival, Ethereal Horror Fest, and Nightmare Fuel Film Festival LA, The Black Quarry has also been selected for major genre events such as Texas Frightmare Weekend, Austin Horror Film Festival, San Antonio Horror Film Festival, and Dead Northern Horror Film Festival.

The film is hosted by scream queen Sarah Webb (Scarah Damsel of the Doomed), a well-known horror personality, musician, and host of Scarah’s Scream Theatre at Doc’s Drive-In Theatre. The cast includes Shakira Reedus (Southside, Merry Switchmas), rising star and social media influencer, alongside internationally recognized comedians Jason Rouse and Jared Nathan, both known for their raw, boundary-pushing stand-up.

Directed by a talented team including Dr. Corey J. Trahan, Sarah Webb, Donavon Cavanaugh, John Bock, and Kayla Stojek, The Black Quarry promises a gripping descent into madness, blending supernatural terror with psychological horror. Horror and metal fans alike will not want to miss this adrenaline-fueled nightmare. The Black Quarry will be available in mid-March on Amazon, GooglePlay and AppleTV.
