'THE EXORCIST' Star Linda Blair Says She has Not Been Asked To Join The Newly Announced Re-launch

The news broke earlier in the week that a new film series branching off of The Exorcist was happening. The film series would be a direct continuation of the first film ala Halloween (2019).

The new film series is being setup by Universal Pictures and Peacock with Blumhouse holding the reigns for the production and distribution sides.

One person of note was NOT involved in any of these discussions tho, was Regan herself, Linda Blair.

The announcement included the first casting and story details, with Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton, Knives Out 2) reportedly playing the father of a possessed child. (We know how this works…)

Desperate for help, he tracks down Chris MacNeil, the mother of the possessed young girl in the original 1973 The Exorcist.

Oscar-winning actress Ellen Burstyn is set to reprise her role as Chris MacNeil so why not Linda Blair?

Blair took to Twitter to answer fan cries, explaining that, as of this writing, she has yet to have any discussions about reprising her role.

“To all my fans asking about my involvement in the new Exorcist reboot, as of now there has not been any discussions about me participating or reprising my role.”

Notice that word there “YET”. That’s a BIG give away that things could change and we might just get a reunion of sorts for these new films.

The first film in the trilogy will be released theatrically on October 13, 2023.
