The "TOXIC CRUSADERS" Are Back In New Beat-‘Em-Up Game Set For Late 2023 Release [Trailer]

If you’re like us and a child of the 80s then you will for sure remember the cartoon show “TOXIC CRUSADERS” it was wacky and at time gross but what would expect from a cartoon based on Lloyd Kaufman’s creation, The Toxic Avenger? News broke yesterday that Retroware has announced a Toxic Crusaders game!

The game is aiming for a late 2023 release on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series and Xbox One.

The story sees Dr. Killemoff once again causing trouble, and it’s up to Toxie and his team of hideously deformed creatures of superhuman size and strength to stop Dr. Killemoff and his plans for global pollution.

Similar to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge last year, Toxic Crusaders will see you as Toxie with up to three other players in an arcade-style beat-’em-up. You’ll be able to choose from seven playable characters, including Toxie, No-Zone, Junkyard, Major Disaster, Headbanger, Toxie’s musically “gifted” girlfriend Yvonne, and the mother of all mothers, Mrs. Junko, Toxie’s mom!

And seeing as it’s Troma, you can expect plenty of cameos from other Troma properties such as Class of Nuke ‘Em High, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, and Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D., all of which are rendered in the same cartoon style as the Toxic Crusaders themselves.

In the meantime, we are still waiting for news on the official Toxic Avenger remake that has been floating around as of late that will star Elijah Wood, Julia Davis, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon, Peter Dinklage, and Jacob Tremblay.
