Updates And Clues On Upcoming Predator Film

As you may have heard earlier this week, The Predator sequel has finally wrapped filming. As promised, Macabre Daily is reporting on any updates on related topics to the production and casting of this anticipated film. Not only do we have updates, but also possible clues to the film's story to report on.

As reported earlier this year, Disney and 20th Century Studios are proceeding along with a Predator sequel. The chosen title for the fifth addition to the franchise will be "Skulls", although a recent social media post by director Dan Trachtenberg indicated that Skulls may just be the film's working title, and a final one has yet to be determined.

Although details on Predator 5: Skulls are still mostly under wraps, the next installment will be about the Yautja race's first-ever arrival on Earth, and the heroic protagonist looking to survive the galaxy's ultimate hunter will be female this time. Interestingly, comments by producers John Davis and John Fox imply that Skulls is set a long, long time ago, possibly before modern human civilization. In 2004’s Alien vs. Predator, we did get to see the Yautja (Predators) duking it out with Xenomorphs on a Mesoamerican pyramid, implementing that they've visited the earth during ancient periods, however no confirmation if this film will follow the AVP lore. Nevertheless an intriguing direction for the franchise.

It has been confirmed that Predator 5 will feature a female lead. This of course wouldn't be the first time we see a female lead in a predator film. Alien Versus Predator’s Sanaa Lathan (Alexa Woods) was a great female protagonist, although she didn't fight a Predator, she did team up with one to battle the Xenomorphs and one "big bad bitch" Alien Queen.

Although no other cast members have been announced or confirmed from Disney or 20th Century Studios as of yet, Discussingfilm.com reported a few months back that actress Amber Midthunder (best known for The CW's Roswell, New Mexico, and the FX series Legion) was cast as the film’s lead character. In an interview with Collider back in June, Midthunder 24 was relatively elusive about any Predator 5 knowledge, keeping the conversation only about her role in this year’s Ice Road starring Liam Neeson and Laurence Fishburne.

One major clue to the premise of this upcoming film is that we may see the Predator go toe to toe with early Native American tribes and possibly with the beasts that inhabited the early Americas. This possible notion came to revelation, thanks to AVPgalaxy.net for sharing an image of one of the film's stunt performers' Instagram story. Jung Jin Park shared an image of the stunt crew's new exclusive t-shirts that read "Skulls Stunt Team" with an image in the center. The image shown appeared to be a skull of a grizzly bear, leaving many fans with the theory that the predators were hunting 1,000-pound grizzly bears for sport, perhaps hunting them with only the use of wrist blades to have a reasonable adversary.

This possible clue leads "Predheads" to believe Skulls may be heavily inspired by Dark Horse Comics Predator: Primal two-issue limited series, where the Yautja often encounter and battle grizzlies, and other forest creatures.

What are your thoughts on the Predator's next adversaries? Will early Native American warriors or carnivorous beasts be a match for the Predator? Drop some knowledge for us.
