Could AMERICAN HORROR STORY Season 10 Bring Back THE GOOD SON?

The AMERICAN HORROR STORY season 10 hype train has official started chugging along, with the release of this promo image by Ryan Murphy.

While that’s all fine and dandy, I started looking into some OTHER promotional images and stumbled across this bad boy…

While I have no doubt that most AHS fans are going to be much more enthralled by the pointy teeth/tongue tattoo combo, the second image got my mind racing. Normally I would be dismissive of such a bland image, until I found out that season 10 is welcoming none other than Macaulay Culkin aboard the cast. Do you get where I’m going with this yet? Okay, well take a look at this screen shot from 1993’s THE GOOD SON -

Spoiler alert on a 27 year old film, I guess, but Macaulay’s mom lets him fall to his death off a cliff that looks MIGHTY similar to that second AHS promo image. I think we all know that Ryan Murphy loves his pop culture and isn’t afraid to wear his influences on his sleeve, a lot of which are surprisingly deep cuts (look up the Motel Hell homage from Scream Queens if you don’t believe me).

In my mind it’s not a terribly big leap to believe that we could see THE GOOD SON resurrected to some degree, but I suppose only time will tell. Even if Culkin isn’t playing the EXACT character he did in the movie, I think it’s entirely possible we see him playing sociopath with Mommy issues as a nice little nod to what is undoubtedly an underrated film.
