At "BUTCHERS BLUFF" (2025) The Hogman Runs Wild (TRAILER)

Even if you’re not a fan of slasher films, you have to appreciate the attempts to diversify the output. While the formula often follows the same beats they have since the 80s, the focus has shifted to creating the next horror “icon” a la Art the Clown. If we’re being pragmatic, icons aren’t made they happen, and the best thing a budding franchise can do is create an image that sticks with viewers even if the film as a whole is middling (a la “Terrifier”). Creating a memorable character is easier said than done, and if the filmmakers behind Breaking Glass Pictures’ upcoming slasher “Butchers Bluff” have any say, the Hogman is here to stay.

Directed by William Instone and Matt Rifley, “Butchers Bluff” looks like the kind of movie it says it is, an homage to bloody 80s slashers. We’ve heard this line before, and while some deliver against this promise many do not, so here’s hoping that the duo has found a way to differentiate from the horror grift and create something that scratches that nostalgic itch for dumbed-down and gory slashers. The film will terrorize horror fans on March 11, 2025, so get your squeals ready!

From The Press Release

Breaking Glass Pictures is excited to announce the release of Butchers Bluff, a blood-soaked homage to 1980s slasher films, on March 11, 2025. Directed by William Instone and Matt Rifley, this bone-chilling horror film pits a group of college film students against the dark and twisted urban legend of the Hogman.

Set in a reclusive Texas town where 28 people have mysteriously vanished over the past two decades, Butchers Bluff follows the students as they seek to uncover the truth behind the Hogman legend for their thesis project. What begins as an ambitious academic endeavor turns into a horrifying fight for survival.

Rich Wolff, CEO of Breaking Glass Pictures, praised the film:
"Director William Instone masterfully sets the tone in Butchers Bluff, a blood-soaked homage to 1980s slasher films. His confident—and unapologetically brutal—direction makes for an unforgettable viewing experience."

William Instone, Writer/Director, on why he chose Breaking Glass Pictures:

"Rich Wolff understood exactly what we were going for with the throwback tribute to 1980s slasher film, Butchers Bluff, and was willing to put some skin in the game to help us finish up the final polish we needed before releasing this passion project to the world. The Breaking Glass team has been very supportive and transparent. I'm looking forward to an ongoing working relationship with the company."
