Brand New 'I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER' Flick Hitting Theaters In 2025

Strap in for a wicked summer in 2025 as we’re hearing all sorts of news regarding horror films coming to theaters. A big one that just hit our desks is the much anticipated ‘I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER’ revamp. Now this isn’t a spinoff or reboot but a brand new film in the franchise.

The franchise will return to theaters on July 18, 2025.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) is on board to direct the new installment in the franchise for Sony, with Leah McKendrick (M.F.A.) writing the screenplay.

We haven’t heard official word on whether or not the original cast of the film will be back but so far both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. were potentially returning.

Ya gotta love these “legacy sequels” that keep popping up, reminding us that the 90s was a great time for slasher flicks.

Jim Gillespie directed the original I Know What You Did Last Summer back in 1997, written by Kevin Williamson (Scream) and based on Lois Duncan’s novel. The film spawned sequels in 1998 and 2006.

In the 1997 slasher movie, “Four young friends bound by a tragic accident are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town.”
