A 21-year-old man who allegedly tortured and killed his girlfriend in their Thousand Oaks apartment was arrested early Christmas Eve, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Deputies responded to an emergency call at about 1:18 a.m. Friday on the 600 block of McCloud Avenue, where they found the woman unresponsive and suffering from serious injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Investigators found evidence that the woman had been tortured prior to her death, which led to the arrest of the victim’s live-in boyfriend, Saul Nava, who was also at the scene.

Nava is being held on $2 million bail in the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of murder, mayhem and torture. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday.

WOMAN ACCUSED OF KILLING BOYFRIEND WITH SWORD

A Missouri woman has been charged with killing her boyfriend with a sword on Christmas Eve.

Cape Girardeau Police said 32-year-old Brittany Wilson was found outside the home she shared with her boyfriend Friday night with blood on her clothing, and a sword was lying in the front yard. Cape Girardeau is in southeast Missouri about 115 miles (185.07 kilometers) south of St. Louis.

KFVS television reported that a woman had called police shortly after 11 p.m. Friday to report that she had killed her boyfriend with a sword.

After officers arrested Wilson, they went inside the home and found her boyfriend, 34-year-old Harrison Stephen Foster, dead with several fresh stab wounds.

Wilson told police that she and Foster had taken methamphetamine earlier in the day. She also told investigators that she believed Foster had several other entities living in his body, and she was setting him free by stabbing him.

Wilson was being held Sunday in lieu of $2 million bond. She has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. It was not immediately known if Wilson had an attorney to speak on her behalf.

HUSBAND, WIFE FOUND IN FRONT YARD DEAD OF APPRAENT MURDER SUICIDE ON CHIRTSMAS DAY

Authorities say five children are spending Christmas without their parents from what appears to be a murder-suicide in northeast Harris County, Houston.

It's unclear how the events exactly transpired, but deputies were called out to a home in the 5600 block of Daun St. near Mt. Houston. That's where Harris Co. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, says Arsenio and Maria Gonzalez, 45, and 42, respectively, were found dead in their front lawn.

The sheriff says Mrs. Gonzalez had signs of blunt trauma while her husband suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. From what we understand so far, according to Sheriff Gonzalez, the couple had just come back home from a "family Christmas function" before everything transpired. We're also told five unidentified children, ranging between ages 7-16, were also found at the scene, who did not witness the incident and were unharmed.

WOMAN MURDERED BY BOYFRIEND IN MARYLAND ON XMAS DAY

The victim’s boyfriend killed her during a fight.

Hagerstown, Md – A 37-year-old woman was murdered by her boyfriend on Christmas Day in Hagerstown.

Hagerstown Police are reporting Tristan Shifflet was shot and killed by her boyfriend, 34-year-old Justin Marshall of Greencastle, Pennsylvania.

Police officers responded to 320 S. Burhans Blvd. at 6:30 PM on Christmas for a shooting. Investigators say Marshall shot Shiflet in the neck during an argument.

Marshall fled to West Virginia before police arrived. Several hours later he was taken into custody by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

Marshall has been charged with first-degree murder. He also had an active arrest warrant through Pennsylvania State Police for assault in a separate incident involving Shiflet. In 2004, Marshall was convicted of second-degree murder in a Hagerstown homicide. He was released from prison two years ago.

The couple shared a young child. Washington County Child Protective Services made arrangements for the boy.

MAN FOUND STRANGLED TO DEATH IN STATEN ISLAND APARTMENT CHIRSTMAS DAY

A man was found dead in a Staten Island home Christmas Day after police responded to a report of a disorderly person.

Police arrived on scene at the Clove Road residence about 7:15 a.m. Officers saw medical personnel providing care to an unconscious 36-year-old man, who was on the second floor of the home.

That man, Rafael Ramos, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The home’s resident, 32-year-old Emmanuel Diaz, walked out of the apartment covered in blood and had a laceration on his face, police said. He was taken into custody for questioning, and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Diaz is facing charges of murder, strangulation, criminal obstruction of breathing and assault.

These examples of murder and death on what is supposed to be a Holiday of joy and togetherness, reminds us that sometimes the monsters in the movies we love, are no better than the people we know and call “neighbor.”
