Director Danny Boyle Still "Very Interested" In Directing '28 MONTHS LATER'

It’s been quite awhile since we’ve heard anything about the potential three-quel to the 28 Day Later universe, 28 MONTHS LATER but director Danny Boyle in a recent interview chimed in on what could be expected and how he feels about possibly directing the next film in the franchise.

The last time we heard rumblings about 28 Months Later was way back in 2013.

In April 2013, he said, “It’s 40/60 whether [a sequel] happens or not. But we did have an idea of where to set it and what it might be about.”

In his recent interview with NME, the English director talked about how he and Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Dredd) have been working on 28 Months Later.

Talking about 28 Months Later Boyle said, “I’d be very tempted [to direct it]. It feels like a very good time actually. It’s funny, I hadn’t thought about it until you just said it.”

He also shared that Alex Garland planned 28 Months Later a couple of years later with a lovely idea at the center of it. He also said that he loved the idea, which was again set in England.

This is exciting news as we were always fans of the franchise and a third film would button up things nicely.

It’s been 20 years since the release of the first movie and 15 years since the sequel. In January 2019, Boyle said he had met with Garland to begin pre-production for the threequel 28 Months Later. There is no update on the plot or release date of the movie.
