Director/Composer Brian Skiba Discusses His Western Inspirations For "GUNS OF REDEMPTION" (INTERVIEW)
The Western is back, sort of. Ever since the release of “Yellowstone” it seems like there is more and more attention being paid to the old frontier genre, but after the box office failure of movies like “Horizon,” the question is less whether the Western is still viable, but rather if it simply has moved onto to another “pasture.” In this case, a shift away from the largest screens to the smaller ones in our homes has made for a smooth transition for the genre, and one that Director and Composer Brian Skiba was well aware of when he signed up to helm “Guns of Redemption” for Shout! Studios releasing on March 7, 2025.
Brian was kind enough to spend some time with us to discuss his approach to the modern western, his love of the genre growing up, and how he used that to inform the musical score to accompany the film’s post-Civil War tale of retribution and redemption. We will be bringing our review in the coming days, but for now, enjoy the conversation with Brian Skiba and get ready to rent or buy “Guns of Redemption” on Digital VOD come March 7th!
