PAPER CUTS: Josh Rountree On His New Weird Western "THE UNKILLABLE FRANK LIGHTNING." (INTERVIEW)

We love all genres here at Macabre Daily, not just horror. Catch us on a good day, and we’ll talk your ear off about the magic of a Reese Witherspoon Rom-Com. One genre, besides horror, that is near and dear to our hearts is the good old-fashioned Western. Authors like Louis L’Amour, Charles Portis, and Larry McMurtry helped establish, define, and occasionally redefine the genre they helped create. Their work was always a thrilling journey to places rife with adventure, danger, and death, with rich characters and atmosphere. There’s a new name to add to this prestigious list of authors, and that name is Josh Rountree. Josh’s novel, “The Legend of Charlie Fish,” was a “must-read” for us here at Macabre Daily and an all-time favorite, and his new novel, “The Unkillable Frank Lightning,” is just as phenomenal. (Yes, we’ve already read it!)

Josh was kind enough to join contributor Sean O’Connor to discuss his new novel, Universal Monsters, “Charlie Fish,” his love for a good old-fashioned “oater,” how he came to love and write horror, and so much more. Josh is such a fun, fascinating guest, and we know you’ll enjoy the conversation around “The Unkillable Frank Lightning” as much as we did.

You can purchase “The Legend of Charlie Fish” from Tachyon Publications, Bookshop.org, and Amazon.
