Horror Highlights From This Past Weekend's NEW YORK TOY FAIR 2025

It’s a hard time to be a horror fan, but not for the reasons you may think. From a content perspective, one could argue that things couldn’t get any better as multiple streaming services cater to genre fans’ desires, and horror films from both independent and studio backers are getting more theatrical releases. Physical media fans have a plethora of boutique labels they can patronize, and horror authors are having a moment as they usher new terrifying tales from a wealth of different perspectives and experiences. This doesn’t even account for all the great comic news, but we know you know that already because you read this site! With all of this cool stuff happening, it can be hard to be a horror fan unless you’re supremely wealthy.

One area where we haven’t been seeing as much coverage is in the world of collectibles and figures, but that doesn’t mean that there haven’t been a ton of exciting things happening. Look no further than this past weekend’s New York Toy Fair (NYTF) and the embarrassment of horror riches shared by NECA, Trick Or Treat Studios (TOTS), Super7, and McFarlane Toys. Thank you to The ToyArk for their amazing coverage of the event and please visit their site for more photos and additional coverage. Below are some of the things we are most eager for based on what was highlighted over the weekend!

NECA

In the world of horror collectibles, NECA is easily the most recognizable and dominant name in the game and this year’s lineup shows why. First off, the Toony Terrors line seems to be exponentially expanding to include more modern icons like M3gan, John Carver, and even the cast of What We Do In The Shadows, but that doesn’t mean they are giving up on their nostalgic horror and horror adjacent roots either as we get Angela Lansbury from “Murder She Wrote” alongside a B&W “Nosferatu” and Vincent Price. The Ben Cooper line of figures also gets a modern retrofit as we get classic Ben Cooper-styled costumes for modern getups like Sam from Trick ’r Treat and Gizmo from “Gremlins.” One of the most exciting shares is a look at the retro package “Jaws” figures which include an Ultimate Edition of Quint and Cooper, as well as a killer Bruce figure that looks like it will be part of something called, “The Game of Jaws.” Lastly, there are a lot of new Ulitmate edition figures for horror heads like Art the Clown, Chucky, Puppet Master (we are finally getting the leech woman and Toulon’s puppet case), and also M3gan and more “An American Werewolf in London” stuff so better start saving now!

Trick or Treat Studios (ToTS)

If we were handing out awards for “Best of Show,” Trick or Treat Studios (ToTS) would be a shoo-in for horror fans as the company came out swinging with a bevy of early-stage and available soon items. One of the most notable expansions was of the Scream Greats line, which already has figures for 1978’s “Halloween,” “Killer Klowns From Outer Space,” and “Pumpkinhead” is getting a lot more additions from franchises like “Hellraiser,” (shown in unpainted concept) “The Crow,” and “Maniac Cop.” There is also a lot to love for fans of the “Halloween” franchise as ToTS shares more Michael Myers’ 1:6 figures from all the films in the franchise, as well as a Dr. Samuel Loomis one which we are dying for. Finally, there are some sneak peeks at some “Robocop” figures as well as some unpainted “Day of the Dead” figures and a “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” dining table playset that beckons to us!

Super7

Super7 has continued its dominance of pop culture action figures, largely through its ReAction line of Kenner-inspired toys, but with more broad strokes to cover many facets. On the horror front, we are getting some “American Psycho” and “Return of the Living Dead” ReAction figures as well as some for “Gremlins” and thank Krom, “Conan the Barbarian.” Super7 promises more Godzilla variants, as well as some killer “Mars Attacks!” ultimate figures that look diabolically detailed. Super7’s showing was less about just genre work, but encompassed a lot of pop culture including Rap, Rock, and even Voltron!

McFarlane Toys

Last, but not least, is McFarlane Toys which had the last horror-centric showing of the four we’ve covered, but still has somethings to entice film fans and sci-fi folk. Starting off with their Warhammer 40K figures which bring the might of the Imperium of Man to stunning size and detail. Fans of the Space Marines should be eying the Lt. Titus figure as well as some figures from the Astra Militarum. The reboot of the “Movie Maniacs” series continues its shift away from horror to cover film more broadly as it noted with the upcoming slate for “Scarface,” “Kung-Fu Panda,” and Kevin from “The Office?” We are somewhat perplexed with the idea of the “Movie Maniacs” line keeping the old title, but changing the emphasis to being less “maniacy.” That said, they are debuting a couple of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” additions to the line, so they haven’t forsaken their roots entirely. Finally, there are the “Fallout” figures which look fine, but not as detailed as some others already on the market.
