'I Am Legend' Director Taking On Netflix's "BIOSHOCK" Film!
We hadn’t heard much about the rumored “Bioshock” film for Netflix but we finally have some concrete news. Deadline reported that Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, Constantine) has come on board to direct the film.
Additionally, Michael Green will be writing the screenplay.
Netflix has joined forces with Take-Two Interactive on the BioShock movie, with plans to develop “a potential cinematic universe” based around the popular video game franchise.
Deadline recaps, “Set across multiple dystopian and visionary landscapes gone wrong, the BioShock video game series has blended sci-fi and horror to pose unique existential and societal questions reshaping how game stories are told—all amidst pulse-pounding action gameplay that rewards sharp shooting, clever planning and lethal improvisation. The award-winning franchise first introduced by 2K in 2007 has sold more than 39 million copies worldwide across the original releases of titles including BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite, as well as multiple rereleases, remastered editions and bundled collections.”
Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment and Take Two will produce Netflix’s BioShock.
The Bioshock franchise has been a fan favorite for quite sometime and we’re eager to see how the games will play out when adapted for a film.
