Original 'FRIDAY THE 13th' Director Teases Possible 13th Film To Be Released Next Year!

It’s been 13 years since we last saw Jason Voorhees on the big screen in a Friday The 13th flick and fans have been clamoring for more ever since. In case you didn’t know, the rights to the franchise have been steeped in legal proceedings between the original films director, Sean Cunningham, and its writer, Victor Miller as far as who gets control of what.

Back in 2018, Victor Miller won the rights to the original screenplay here in the United States and Sean Cunningham has failed to overturn that decision in the following years but does own the rights to adult Jason who was introduced in the various sequels.

That said, it looks like SOMETHING is happening very soon, as Sean Cunningham has updated his bio over on Cameo to indicate that the franchise is coming back to life soon-ish?

Cunningham’s official Cameo bio states, “Sean S. Cunningham directed and produced the seminal horror film Friday the 13th, creating the iconic villain Jason Voorhees. The movie has spawned 12 installments with a 13th scheduled for next year.”

Does this mean Miller and Cunningham have come to terms and are working on a new film? Time will tell but we have our camping gear ready for a return to Camp Crystal Lake!
