"I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER" Reboot Director Clarifies If Reboot Is Canon
The latest trend sweeping horror franchises is the canonical sequel/reboot, or as the folks from “Scream 5” refer to them, “requels”. It seems we are forgoing the “legacy sequel” phase ushered in by Universal / Blumhouse’s Halloween Trilogy and going back to sequels that continue the threads of the previous films. This brings us to today’s news around the upcoming “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and the squashing of any rumors that this new requel would not honor the previous films before it.
First reported on by Deadline, it seems the reboot director, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson confirmed via Twitter/X that the new film will in fact be part of the broader series canon.
