‘Insidious: The Red Door’ Gets 'PG-13' Rating From MPA For Violence and Frightening Images

Welp, some would say that Horror that isn’t rated ‘R’ isn’t that scary but the folks over at Blumhouse think otherwise and so does the MPA as Sony Pictures is heading back into The Further with Insidious: The Red Door this summer, and tickets for the new movie are now on sale!

The film has received its official MPA rating this week. Like all the previous movies in the franchise, Insidious: The Red Door has been rated “PG-13” for…

“Violence, terror, frightening images, strong language, and suggestive references.”

Insidious: The Red Door will release in theaters everywhere on July 7, 2023.

Just because the main franchise is closing up shop with this installment, it does not mean that Insidious is going away for good as a brand new spinoff story is in the works entitled Thread: An Insidious Tale and you can read about it HERE

The horror franchise’s original cast is back in Insidious: The Red Door, directed by and starring Patrick Wilson. Family secrets will be revealed as the Lamberts head back into The Further one more time, encountering demons from the past as well as brand new terrors.

In the film, “To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must go deeper into The Further than ever before.”

The original cast from Insidious is back with Patrick Wilson (also making his directorial debut), Ty Simpkins, Rose Byrne, Andrew Astor and Lin Shaye.

Also starring Sinclair Daniel and Hiam Abbass, the film is produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan and Leigh Whannell. The screenplay is written by Scott Teems from a story by Leigh Whannell, based on characters created by Leigh Whannell.

“I’m honored and thrilled to be at the helm of the next Insidious installment, which will provide an amazing chance to unpack everything the Lamberts went through a decade ago, as well as deal with the consequences of their choices,” Wilson said in a statement back in 2020. “Directing the movie is both professionally and personally a full circle moment for me, and I am extremely grateful to be entrusted in continuing to tell this frightening and haunting story. Into the further we go…”
