Jenna Ortega Promises More Horror-Centric Focus For 'WEDNESDAY' Season 2

Tim Burton’s ‘WEDNESDAY’ was a smash hit on Netflix and truly made star Jenna Ortega a horror icon in her own right by taking on the character of Wednesday Addams. With the series gearing up for its second season at Netflix, Ortega has once again said that this new season will be more “horror-centric” and that has us very eager to see what’s to come.

Ortega, who has now become an Executive Producer on “Wednesday,” tells Variety this week, “With a character like Wednesday, who is so beloved, I didn’t want to get her wrong. So I tried to have as many conversations as possible with the writers. We’d decide what works and what doesn’t. In preparation for a second season, we wanted to make sure that we could start the conversations earlier. I’m just so curious: I want to see the outfits, new characters, scripts.”

“It’s still coming together, but we’ve decided we want to lean into the horror more,” Ortega continues, echoing similar comments she recently made. “We’re ditching any romantic love interest, which is really great. We’re going to get bolder, more dark.”

Jenna Ortega stars in the new series as Wednesday Addams, with Luis Guzmán playing Gomez and Catherine Zeta-Jones playing Morticia in Tim Burton’s Netflix series. Christina Ricci also appears in the show, playing a brand new role, with Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.
