Kana Releasing Unveils Two New Horror Manga Titles, "LEVIATHAN VOL. 1" And "MANHOLE VOL. 1"
The beauty of horror lies in its regional diversity. While we all share primal fears, the regional interpretations of horror often twist the perspective to reflect what a specific culture and people fear most. This exploration of the genre isn’t limited to films, but rather the entirety of the media environment surrounding horror, especially in the world of comics and graphic novels. Another brand bringing more Japanese horror on the page to Westerners is Abrams ComicArts and their imprint, Kana Releasing. Abrams ComicArts, a division of ABRAMS, recently launched Kana, an imprint devoted to publishing manga series in English. This October, Kana will release the first volumes in two new horror series from rising stars in the world of manga – Shiro Kuroi’s Leviathan and Tetsuya Tsutsui’s Manhole Volume 1.
Perfect for fans of Moebius, Star Wars, and Katsuhiro Otomo, Shiro Kuroi’s Leviathan Volume One follows a group of students pitted against each other in a brutal battle for survival in the depths of space. The gripping sci-fi survival horror centers around the Leviathan, an enormous spaceship, abandoned in a galaxy far, far away.
