LISTEN UP: "THE HORROR FILES" PODCAST TACKLES FAVORITE VAMPIRE FLICKS!

Vampires have been a fixture of horror films for over a century, but they have evolved over time from their origins as supernatural beings of myth and legend. The cinematic vampire was first popularized in the 1920s by classic silent films like NOSFERATU and DRACULA, which introduced audiences to the iconic image of a suave, caped Count with sharp fangs and a thirst for blood. However, it wasn't until the 1970’s and 1980s that the vampire underwent a significant transformation in horror cinema, with films like the satirical FRIGHT NIGHT, the groundbreaking and hallucinatory GANJA AND HESS, and the gritty and violent NEAR DARK, reimagining the vampire archetype in new and thrilling ways.

Even in modern horror, the fascination with the vampire mythology shows no signs of slowing down, with the newly released horror-comedy, RENFIELD and the upcoming slice-of-gothic-Dracula tale, THE VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER, catering to modern audiences that continue to be fascinated by the allure of the vampire archetype, even more than 100 years after the creation of Bram Stoker’s infamous horror icon.

In this new episode of my podcast, “The Horror Files,” I’ll be counting down my top 10 picks for my favorite vampire flicks (and who knows, a part two may be coming too!). Listen now on Spotify, Google Podcasts, iHeartRadio, and Amazon Music!
