Synapse Films Releasing Mike Mendez's 'THE GRAVEDANCERS' On 4K Ultra HD

We’re a bit biased as we post this news because we personally think that Mike Mendez’s ‘THE GRAVEDANCERS’ is an amazing film and was one of our personal favorites during the short lived 8 Films To Die For aka After Dark Horror Fest series of the early 2000s. We’ve owned the film several times on DVD, lent it out, rebought it, and still look for it occasionally to pop up at our local haunt of Frank & Son’s here in Southern California but news this morning has us stoked beyond compare.

It’s being reported and even reposted by director Mike Mendez himself that ‘THE GRAVEDANCERS’ will be coming to 4K thanks to the fine fiends at Synapse Films. Our friends over at Dawn Of The Disc were the first to report the news on Instagram.

The film stars Sid (Marcus Thomas), Kira (Josie Maran), and Harris (Dominic Purcell) Production on the film began in North Carolina during the winter, and lasted six weeks. After numerous false starts and shifting studios, director Mike Mendez opted to finance the film independently, leaving a six year gap in between his first film, The Convent, and The Gravedancers.

We don’t have an official release date for this one as of yet but should get something soon.

The film is a fun little cautionary tale but where this film truly shines is the practical effects and “ghost” looks. Talk about CREEEPY.

Here’s the films official plot synopsis and trailer.

“After a night of drunken exploits, Allison, Harris, and Kira are chased and terrorized by the ghosts of three malevolent spirits whos graves they danced on.”
