Original Ending For HALLOWEEN KILLS Revealed: And It's A LOT Better Than What We Saw In Theaters [Spoilers]

As most directors say, “The film you saw in theaters WAS the director’s cut.” Sure sure, we’ve heard that one before…

Halloween Kills falls into this category of films that have alternative endings and if you haven’t seen the film yet…read no further.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!

YOU SURE?!

YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!!

In the final scene, Karen (Judy Greer) walks back into Michael Myers' old house after seemingly putting the masked maniac down for good along with the residents of Haddonfield. Of course, this is Michael Myers we’re talking about so what’s “dead” isn’t really the case and he comes back and brutally stabs Karen to death.

The movie concludes with both Myers and Karen's mother, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), looking out of their respective windows, but the original ending detailed in the script played out slightly differently.

Karen is still killed, but Laurie then calls her daughter's phone, and Michael picks up. After hearing "The Shape" breathing, Laurie realizes what's happened and tells him, "I'm coming for you, Michael!" Strode then picks up the knife Allison was gripping in the final shot of the last film, and strides down the hospital corridor for a confrontation with her nemesis.

This would have made for an even better ending and lined things up for the final battle between Laurie and Michael in Halloween Ends.

Director David Gordon Green does say that this was originally filmed but shelved because Halloween Ends happens four years after the events of Halloween Kills. That’s a major time jump but makes perfect sense why this original ending wasn’t used.
