RLJE's "BLOODY AXE WOUND" (2024) Hacks It On Shudder This March!
One of the best trends of 2024 was seeing more independent horror films get theatrical releases. Sure, some of them were limited, but it’s miles better than things were over a decade ago when only a handful of cities, usually LA and NYC, would get the privilege of screening lesser-known films from the horror genre. Some of this is due in part to the rise and dominance of horror-centric streaming services like Screambox and Shudder, both of which are part of larger companies with the means to provide the capital for theatrical releases. One such film is 2024’s “Bloody Axe Wound” which we reviewed last December, and it’s making its way from the theater to your TV this March!
Coming to Shudder on March 21, 2025, “Bloody Axe Wound” is a venture from the minds of Jeffrey Dean and Hilarie Morgan, along with renowned actor and producer Mary Stuart Masterson. We had a great time with this unique and comedic twist on the slasher genre, and another feather in the cap of Shudder as they continue to release innovative and independent horror films. What a time to be alive! Check out the trailer and synopsis below, and if you don’t have a Shudder subscription, you gotta change that. It’s the best bang-for-buck a horror fan can get these days!
