'THE BRIDE' Starring Penelope Cruz And Christian Bale Reportedly Back On At Warner Bros.
We’ve been keeping an eye on everything Frankenstein related as of late and another project just caught our attention. This new film is simply titled ‘THE BRIDE’ and will of course focus on the creature created for Victor Frankenstein’s monster. Did we forget to mention that Maggie Gyllenhaal is helming the project which was originally slated for Netflix.
We first heard about the project last year, but a recent report indicated that the film had been shelved shortly after the Hollywood strikes got underway, and was being shopped elsewhere.
However, World of Reel has now shared a more positive update.
According to the site, Warner Bros. has now acquired The Bride. There's a chance this means the movie will get a theatrical release, but it will more likely wind up on the Max streaming service.
Gyllenhaal is set to direct after garnering acclaim for her debut feature, The Lost Daughter. Penélope Cruz (Vanilla Sky, Zoolander 2) is said to be on board to play the Bride of the title, while Christian Bale (The Dark Knight, Thor: Love and Thunder) has reportedly signed on to play Frankenstein.
Peter Saragaard (Green Lantern, The Batman) is also part of the cast, but we don't have any details on his role.
As of right now we’re not 100% sure if this new flick will be an adaptation of the 1935 film?
