Till Death Do Us Part: The Best Horror Movie Couples For Valentine’s Day (RANT)

We take a look at five famous couples in horror films that prove that even though love may be in the air for Valentine’s Day, horror is forever. Check out our list below.

When we think of Valentine’s Day, candies, flowers, and expensive dinners usually come to mind. But this is MacabreDaily, so of course, our type of Valentine’s Day has a few drops or gallons of blood as well. Love in horror movies can be as dark as it is passionate, proving that even the most terrifying tales have room for romance. Here are five iconic horror movie couples that prove love can last through even the bloodiest circumstances.

“Natural Born Killers” via Paramount Pictures

Mickey and Mallory Knox – “Natural Born Killers” (1994)

Few couples embody a dangerous and chaotic love story quite like Mickey (Woody Harrelson) and Mallory Knox (Juliette Lewis). In Natural Born Killers, directed by Oliver Stone and based on a story by Quentin Tarantino, these two lovers embark on a violent killing spree across America, becoming infamous media sensations. The film is a whirlwind of excess and debauchery that dives into some very dark places. Despite their murderous tendencies, Mickey and Mallory’s love for each other is unwavering. Some very intense scenes take place between the couple and the film doesn’t slow down for the weak. Their passion is as toxic as it is intense, making them one of the most compelling (if not the most conventional) love stories in horror and film in general. True, Natural Born Killers wouldn’t be considered a true “horror” film but we think it borders the genre due to the horrific content and actions that Mickey and Mallory commit while watching.

“The Addams Family” via Paramount Pictures

Gomez and Morticia Addams – “The Addams Family” (1991), “Addams Family Values” (1993)

Perhaps one of the most beloved and enduring couples in gothic romance, Gomez (Raúl Juliá) and Morticia Addams (Anjelica Huston) redefine relationship goals. While The Addams Family movies are more horror-comedy than straight horror, the couple’s devotion to one another is a standout. We’re focusing on the 90s version of Gomez and Morticia since this version is so iconic to modern horror fans. How many times have you been scrolling through Instagram and seen someone say that Gomez and Morticia were “Goals” for a relationship? It’s true, Gomez and Morticia’s passion for each other is probably borderline fanatical but love can make people do crazy things and no couple better represents willingness to do some crazy and wild things for one another than Gomez and Morticia. With unwavering adoration, poetic affection, and a shared love for all things macabre, Gomez and Morticia show that romance can be delightfully dark. Their chemistry on screen is undeniable and they will forever be “Goals” for many as parents but especially as lovers.

“The Shining” via Warner Bros.

Jack and Wendy Torrance – “The Shining” (1980)

While Jack (Jack Nicholson) and Wendy Torrance (Shelley Duvall) may not be the pinnacle of healthy relationships, they certainly make for a terrifying and unforgettable couple. In Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Shining, Jack’s descent into madness at the Overlook Hotel leads to one of horror’s most chilling depictions of a crumbling marriage. You can literally see the loss and desperation wash over Wendy’s face during the long descent into madness that Jack experiences. Wendy’s resilience and Jack’s unraveling psyche create a tension-filled dynamic that, while far from romantic, is a hauntingly memorable portrayal of love gone wrong to a murderous degree. While Jack and Wendy may not win “Best Couple” awards, they do tell a tale of a relationship on its way out that just needed a little push to go over the edge into insanity.

“Bride Of Chucky” via Universal Pictures

Chucky and Tiffany – “Bride of Chucky” (1998), “Seed of Chucky” (2004), “CHUCKY” (2021 - 2024)

When it comes to murderous devotion, few horror couples match the intensity of Chucky (Brad Dourif) and Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly). Bride of Chucky brought a new kind of romance to the slasher genre, introducing Tiffany as Chucky’s equally psychotic partner-in-crime. We had no idea Chucky had that type of pull because Tiffany was a knockout. Crazy does attract crazy so it makes sense that Chucky and Tiffany’s relationship is borderline manic but there are a few shining moments of affection between the two for sure. Their love is twisted, dysfunctional, and often hilarious, making them one of horror’s most entertaining pairs. Even in the ongoing series CHUCKY, the relationship between Chucky and Tiffany is complicated but there is still a vale of love and devotion to them through it all. Whether they’re killing together or bickering over family matters, Chucky and Tiffany’s chemistry is hard to ignore, and let’s face it, they’re pretty perfect together.

“The Conjuring” via Blumhouse and Universal Pictures

Ed and Lorraine Warren – “The Conjuring” Universe (2013-Present)

Unlike the other couples on this list, Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) represent love in its purest form. Based on real-life paranormal investigators, the Warrens’ partnership in The Conjuring films is built on trust, courage, and unwavering belief in each other. There are scenes in The Conjuring films where you can feel the emotion and weight behind what the Warrens say to each other. Their relationship is the emotional core of the franchise, proving that love can endure through supernatural horrors, demonic possessions, and malevolent spirits. As a couple, it’s hard to top the Warrens when it comes to supporting one’s partner. They are constantly checking in with one another and show how they are linked for a higher calling than just being a married couple. Their devotion to each other strengthens them against the darkness, making them one of horror’s most heartwarming couples.

We know horror films might not be the first thing you think of when Valentine’s Day roles around but we hope that this short list proves that love can and does endure even in some dark places like the horror genre. Whether they be murderous serial killers, passionate goths, or a couple solving paranormal mysteries, one thing is for sure, love always finds a way.
