"WAIT FOR IT" EXPANDS THE LESLIE VERNON LEGACY IN NEW SHORT FILM
One of the most underrated meta-slashers of all time is BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON. Part rockumentary part slasher, the film felt way ahead of it’s time by peeling back the layers of slasher tropes in a very transparent way showing how a slasher would operate if they in fact existed in a reality-based context. Filled with quality humor, interesting examinations of slasher logic, and a damn fine example of a good slasher movie. Well, it looks like we are getting more from the Leslie Vernon universe in a new short film, WAIT FOR IT!
From the creator and screenwriter of Behind the Mask, DAVID J. STIEVES, Wait For It is coming out of stealth-mode and starting to make rounds at various film festivals across the country. Read more about the film in the press release below:
Creator and screenwriter of the cult hit horror/comedy BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON, David J. Stieve’s directorial debut short film, WAIT FOR IT, is currently on its festival run!
Synopsis: Set within the same universe as BEHIND THE MASK: THE RISE OF LESLIE VERNON, WAIT FOR IT is a loving deconstruction of the slasher genre, seen from the perspective of survivor girl Darcy (Lily Anne Harrison), who is living in the aftermath of her own encounter with a psycho-slasher killer. We follow Darcy as she travels home from a night out with friends, always remaining wary of the inevitable return of her tormentor.

We’ve already played at some, including the Portland Horror Film Festival where David participated in a Q&A. It was very well received by an almost packed house!
