A24's "DEATH OF A UNICORN" (2025) Makes Us Fear These Mythical Monsters (TRAILER)

When most people think of unicorns, they think of My Little Pony, Lisa Frank's designs, and maybe the 80s fantasy film, “Legend.” The unicorn is often characterized as a benevolent and rare creature who has the ability to heal others and the calming aura of a deity. The truth is unicorns used to be mean motherf*ckers. The idea of a pearly white horse-like creature with a shiny horn on its head is the latter description of this mythical creature, but as far back as the 1st Century some described them as having, “…the head of the stag, the feet of the elephant, and the tail of the boar, while the rest of the body is like that of the horse; it makes a deep lowing noise, and has a single black horn, which projects from the middle of its forehead, two cubits in length.” Other interpretations suggest that they wallowed in mud and slime, hardly the way we see them today but closer to how A24 is characterizing them in their upcoming fantasy/horror/comedy, “Death of a Unicorn.”

The film is set to release in theaters on March 28, 2025, and has a stacked cast that includes Jenna Ortega, Paul Rudd, Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, and Richard E. Grant. We have a new trailer for you ahead of the film’s March release and we are cautiously curious about what this will be like when it arrives next month!

Synopsis

A father (Paul Rudd) and daughter (Jenna Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (Richard E. Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.
