Bill Skarsgård Not Currently Involved With Pennywise Prequel Series "WELCOME TO DERRY"
Things could definitely change but as of this writing Bill Skarsgård, who famously played the new Pennywise for Andy Muschietti’s two films, is NOT involved with the upcoming HBO MAX series, “WELCOME TO DERRY.”
Skarsgård reveals in a new chat with Jake’s Takes that at this moment he’s *not* involved in the series.
“We’ll see what they come up with and what they do with it. I’m not currently involved in it,” Skarsgård explains to the show. “If someone else gets to [play Pennywise], my advice is to make it your own. Have fun with it. What I thought was so pleasurable about that character was how incredibly abstract he was. The book is really a gift that way.”
Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs are on board the Pennywise prequel project from Warner Bros. Television, with Muschietti set to direct several episodes.
Variety had reported last year, “The series will begin in the 1960s in the time leading up to the events of It: Part One, the 2017 film based on the Stephen King horror novel. The story is also said to include the origin story of Pennywise the Clown.”
Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman, Ice Age: Continental Drift) and Brad Caleb Kane (“Moonhaven,” “Black Sails,” “Fringe”) will serve as co-showrunners for the prequel series.
