You can’t keep a good deputy down! David Arquette is officially returning as Deputy Dewey Riley in the next SCREAM sequel, once again taking on the case of the Ghostface Killer. More details below!

This news came out of left field this morning as Deadline is reporting that “Scream” franchise alum, David Arquette (Dewey Riley) will return for “SCREAM 7”, the next film in the slasher series from Spyglass Pictures and Paramount Pictures. He joins returning SCREAM alum’s Scott Foley and Matthew Lillard who were also killed off in the franchise in earlier installments.

You’d be right to wonder—but as of now, no details have been revealed about how they’ll return, and the plot remains under wraps. Arquette’s character was killed off in the fifth installment, and honestly, it seemed impossible for him to survive all that he went through.

The “SCREAM” franchise was revitalized in 2022 after franchise director, Wes Craven, passed away in 2015. “SCREAM” (2022) brought back almost every legacy actor from the franchise and shook things up by bringing in fresh new faces like Jenna Ortega to the mix. Last year, “SCREAM VI” did amazing when it was released, pulling in $169 million worldwide so of course another film was sure to follow.
