Director Michael Dougherty Teases Story Idea For Potential 'KRAMPUS 2'

Back in 2015, director Michael Dougherty (Trick R’ Treat) took Christmas by storm with his film ‘KRAMPUS’ which turned out to be a box office and fan hit with tons of sequel potential. Much like ‘TRICK R TREAT’, we’re waiting for any news in regards to a sequel. Even though it’s been close to 10yrs after its release, fans want more of Krampus and we now know there is a potentiality for it to happen.

Speaking with Collider after a recent screening of Trick ‘r Treat, where he also teased Trick ‘r Treat 2, Doughtery noted that he and his team have discussed Krampus sequel plans.

“We have an idea for a sequel on that one, too,” Dougherty explained.

“It doesn’t necessarily center around a family as much as it might be about a group of strangers who are trapped somewhere,” the filmmaker continued.

Now this news is in no way stating that a sequel to Krampus was actually going to happen, but it’s interesting to hear that Dougherty is still thinking about the possibilities nearly 10 years after the first movie brought the Alpine folklore to the big screen.

We hope we have more news for you soon as both Trick R’ Treat and Krampus have tons of potential for full on franchises to come.

In Krampus, “When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers. All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.”
