Original "GOOSEBUMPS" Artist Tim Jacobus Reteams With R.L. Stine For New Horror Comic Series!

This year marks the 30th anniversary for Goosebumps. Author R.L. Stine is still churning out horror for all ages and we have word that he and original Goosebumps artist Tim Jacobus are teaming up for a brand new Horror Comic from BOOM! Studios.

The comic will be titled “Stuff Of Nightmares” and Jacobus gave a sneak peek at the variant artwork he did for the first issue.

Jacobus writes on Instagram, “30 years ago, we used to do this every month. Now, it’s a rare treat to work with the man. R. L. Stine has created a new horror graphic novel for the “big kids”. And Stuff of Nightmares is as dark as the name!”

“I got picked up to take the ride again – creating a variant cover for the premier issue,” Jacobus continues his Instagram post. “Conjuring images for this guy never grows old. Only I do!”

The four-issue limited comic book series will see Stine put his own twist on legendary monsters, and the first issue of Stuff of Nightmares will be hitting shelves September 2022.

“In the premiere of Stine’s reanimated reimagining, the monster you encounter isn’t the one you thought it’d be—you might be familiar with the classic tale of a mad scientist hell-bent on creating life, but what these two demented brothers have created is something else entirely! Get ready for a darker, more gruesome, and even more terrifying series for horror fans who are ready to face their fears in … STUFF OF NIGHTMARES!”

“AT LAST I’m free to let my most horrific fantasies out! Hey, kids– stay away from STUFF OF NIGHTMARES,” said R.L. Stine. “It’s my first horror comic book work for grownups. Ghastly, gory, and I hope, good stomach-churning fun!”

“For all of us who grew up reading R.L. Stine’s work, we now have something terrifying to sink our teeth into as adults, especially those who have a sordid love for Fear Street, EC Comics, and classic horror,” said Bryce Carlson, VP, Editorial & Creative Strategy BOOM! Studios. “I can’t wait for the Nightmare Keeper to lead everyone into this horrifying new series.”

Stuff of Nightmares #1 will have a main cover from acclaimed artist Francesco Francavilla (Afterlife with Archie) and highly collectible variant cover art by illustrators Miguel Mercado (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Adam Gorham (The Immortal Hulk), Jenny Frison (Wonder Woman), and Kyle Holtz (Savage Spider-man), as well as an incredibly rare variant cover from artist Björn Barends (Something is Killing the Children) signed by R.L. Stine and not one but two extra spooky glow-in-the-dark covers by Francavilla, in addition to the Tim Jacobus cover.
