International Posters For 'MEG 2: THE TRENCH' Tease Sequel's New Prehistoric Creatures

Meg 2: The Trench will be swimming to theaters on August 4, 2023, and the recent trailer for Meg 2: The Trench revealed that Jason Statham will be facing off against more than just a trio of giant sharks, and these international posters spotlight those new prehistoric threats.

The footage featured Jason Statham's rescue diver turned giant fish-killer Jonas Taylor and his crew facing multiple Megs, but it also hinted at some new prehistoric threats, and they're spotlighted here.

One of the new beasts is clearly a giant octopus or squid, and while the other creature is mostly obscured, it's believed to be a Kronosaurus.

Sienna Guillory (Clifford the Big Red Dog), Skyler Samuels (The Gifted), and Sergio Peris-Mencheta (Snowfall) recently joined the cast in supporting roles. Peris-Mencheta will play the villain, "a hard-edged mercenary," Guillory is the head of an applied sciences division, while Samuels is "an adventure-loving member of the submarine crew."

Surviving Mana One crew members Cliff Curtis, Sophia Cai and Page Kennedy will also return.

The first movie's writing team (yes, it was a group effort) of Jon and Erich Hoeber and Dean Georgaris penned the script. Ben Wheatley, who is best known for disturbing/surreal movies such as Kill List and High Rise, is directing.
