"INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE" Season 2 Blu-Ray Packs In More Blood, Bites, And Brooding (REVIEW)
Season 2 of AMC’s smash hit show, “Interview With The Vampire” is gearing up for its third season and with that, we take a look back at season 2 in its Blu-ray format below.
A few things have changed since we last visited our most illustrious vampire pals Louie (Jacob Anderson) and Claudia(Delainey Hayles) for season 2. The duo are now in Europe after escaping New Orleans and leaving a path of death and destruction in their wake. One such death was that of the pair’s former master and partner in crime, Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) or so Louie and Claudia thought. Lestat is an ancient vampire who has the blood of the old gods in his veins which makes him extra difficult to kill, so it’s safe to say we see “the brat prince” throughout this season.
As Louie and Claudia travel the war-torn areas of Europe (these events all seemingly happen during World War II) in search of others like themselves, they discover that many older vampires don’t have the stamina or will to live for eternity and ultimately go mad and kill themselves. This is not a fate that Louie or Claudia expected or wanted and they move on to Paris to see if there are any other remnants of their kind. All the while Louie is haunted by dreams and visions of his once passionate lover, Lestat.
We won’t give too much more away as you can read our recaps for the entire second season below and be warned there be spoilers. The one thing you must know about this season is that it shows how much two people can love each other over years and years of strife and, if needed, can be completely brutal and truly hurt one another. Ahh, ain’t love grand?
Season 2 Of "INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE" Ends In More Blood, Tears, And Revenge
The three-disc set for Interview With The Vampire season 2 breaks down each episode with “Episode Insiders” featurettes where each cast member is asked about the episode and provides some great insights into the various vampires and situations they encounter. As a fan of the books and series, you’ll want to check these out. Episode 8 in particular breaks down how the production set fire to a real wooden structure for the climax ending of the season. Every disc on this set has multiple “Insider” featurettes so there is a lot to digest after watching the season in full.
The SHOW ME MORE: Interview With The Vampire Season 2 special feature gives the viewer a nice look behind the show’s scenes and how the entire season was shot in Prague. The show-runners break it down nicely how Prague gave them everything they needed to be the background location for the season. They even used Prague as a stand-in for Paris and just dressed the streets up to look like WW2-era France. The featurette is short but sums up the production for the series well. What stood out is that the first episode of season 2 was originally going to be the fifth episode of season 1. Plans change and seasons get elongated based on demand so it makes sense that certain scenes needed to be shifted around to make a cohesive season.
The “Blooper Reel” truly shines as this shows the cast having a great time messing up takes and just goofing off. It’s refreshing to see such serious actors have a good time while covered with blood and guts. Everyone seemed to truly enjoy the production and in all honesty, makes this reviewer wish he would have been on set. Check out the reel for yourself below.
Clocking in at just over six hours, the Blu-ray set for Interview With The Vampire season 2 is a must-have for fans of the show. We truly feel that if she was still with us, Anne Rice would be very proud of her vampire creations and what AMC has done with them. Interview with The Vampire is without a doubt the must-see series of the year for us. It has everything one could want and more. We have high hopes that season 3 will be packed with more nods to the original novel as well as gut-wrenching revelations of sorrow and guilt.
You can purchase Interview With The Vampire Season 2 Here. Season 3 of Interview with the Vampire is expected to premiere in early 2025. AMC announced the renewal of the show earlier this year in June, just before the season 2 finale. The third season will be based on the second book in Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles series, “The Vampire Lestat”, which we highly recommend you read before season 3 kicks off.
