KIER-LA JANISSE Talks About Curating Another Volume Of Folk Horror Finds In ALL THE HAUNTS BE OURS VOL.2 (INTERVIEW)
The curating of a box set, particularly one focused on a genre rather than a franchise, is a tricky endeavor. For one, it must be accepted that the box set will never be definitive given the breadth of films most genres and sub-genres have under their titles. Second, it takes a special kind of film enthusiast to wade through the myriad of sources, from academia to online content, and pull together a cohesive thesis and narrative that underpins the tone of the collection. Kier-La Janisse is no stranger to this work as she is the producer and curator of Severin Films’ most successful box set ever, “All The Haunts Be Ours Vol. 1.” With the second volume having released on November 12, 2024 (available now on Severin’s website), we were fortunate enough to spend 30 minutes with Kier-La (pronounced, Kay-La) to learn more about her approach to this second volume of folk horror films from across the globe.
We cover a lot of topics from specific films in the set (spoiler-free, of course) to the newly included storybook and even the film that “got away.” Check out the interview below, and thank you to Kier-La for the time! Our review of “All The Haunts Be Ours Vol. 2” will be out later this week!
