'MORTAL KOMBAT' Sequel Gets Greenlight From HBO With “The Exorcist” Series Creator Jeremy Slater Writing

You want more Mortal Kombat? Welp, fear not as today news has dropped that a sequel is for sure happening and the writer behind “The Exorcist” series and Marvel’s “Moon Knight” Jeremy Slater, is at the writing desk.

The first Mortal Kombat film was released in theaters and on HBO Max in April 2021, and was directed by Simon McQuoid. All we know about Mortal Kombat 2 so far is that Slater is writing.

If you remember though, the post credit scene in the film teased Johnny Cage for a sequel, will we see Cage(who was based off of Jean-Claude Van Damme) in the new film? Only time will tell.

Produced by James Wan, Mortal Kombat pulled in $83.6 million worldwide at the box office beginning on April 23, 2021, right around the time that pandemic vaccines were finally being offered up for the first time. The gory video game adaptation was also watched by 3.8 million households during that weekend, a number no other movie was able to pass on HBO Max.

We’ll have more news as it develops.
