New Found Footage Film, "McCURDY POINT" Teases The Terrors Of Maine

When most people think of Maine, they think of Stephen King. The prolific horror author has based the majority of his stories in the Northeastern state and grew up in one of its most recognizable towns, Portland. Aside from King, however, the state doesn’t get much attention on the horror scene, that is until now. Fresh off of a great preview screening at Michigan’s Motor City Nightmares con, the new found footage film, McCurdy Point is finally ready to unveil its first trailer to the world!

The trailer introduces us to a group of guys set on a road trip to check out a hot tub in Maine, but that starts to turn as they realize the place they’re staying has some dark secrets of its own. The film was directed by Jeremy Brothers and Nick Paonessa and is still awaiting a release date, but we will be sure to keep you informed once more information is available. For now, check out the trailer and press release below as well as some behind-the-scenes photos from the film’s Executive Producer, Chris Gierowski who has previously served as Executive Producer on such genre films as Don’t F*ck In the Woods 1 and 2.

From the Press Release:

The new found footage horror movie, McCurdy Point, is releasing its full trailer and first reactions from its SNEAK PEAK at Motor City Nightmares.

Synopsis: Documenting their celebratory trip to a quaint cabin in the deep woods of Maine,  four friends find themselves doomed from supernatural forces they don't understand.

McCurdy Point is the found footage horror project from several members of The Groundlings Main Company. These comedians are actual horror lovers. What helps them with a joke build up to a punchline, works the same way with building tension to a scare. This trailer release should leave you shaking in your boots.

Co-Writer and Co-Director, Jeremy Brothers, says:

“Almost everyone involved in the production comes from a background of working in improv comedy, which gave us a lot of flexibility in being able to roll with the always-changing circumstances that inevitably happen during production.”

The cast includes Kiel Kennedy (Don’t Tell Larry, Good Girls, It’s a Wonderful Binge), Ryan Gaul (The Last OG, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Superstore), Laird Macintosh (Shameless, AP Bio, Jimmy Kimmel Live), Patty Guggenheim (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Reno 911, Curb Your Enthusiasm), Allison Dunbar (The Sopranos, Yellowstone, Dave), Christian Roberts, and Joey Krulock.

Ryan Gaul, who plays the character of Sam and also serves as a Co-Writer says:

“One of the recurring elements we saw in a lot of horror films -- specifically in found footage -- is that so many characters are unlikable. In fact, you kind of can't wait for some of them to bite it. We’re daring you not to fall in love with some of these characters and performances. We’re hoping people leave the theater feeling like they lost some friends.”

McCurdy Point had an unfinished SNEAK PEAK at Motor City Nightmare recently and generated several positive reactions. While doing a Q&A after, one audience member said it was a relief seeing the actors in real life after seeing their demise on screen.

The feature is co-directed by Brothers and Nick Paonessa (Boys Toys, Jack) and Co-written by Jeremy Brothers, Ryan Gaul, and Kiel Kennedy. Produced by Jeremy Brothers, Ryan Gaul, Kiel Kennedy, and Nick Paonessa. And executive produced by Chris Gierowski (Don’t F*** in the Woods 1 & 2, Phantom Fun-World, Wait For It) and Matthew Gudernatch.

There are dozens of festivals that the movie has been submitted to around the world and the crew is hoping to have its fully finished WORLD PREMIERE sometime soon so stay tuned.
